GREAT NEWS! FTP JUST GOT A WHOLE LOT EASIER!!!
Windows XP (Mac does not offer this option) has an FTP client included in it that will allow you to connect with our FTP site to transfer files without the necessity of downloading a separate FTP client to accommodate this task (although sometimes this option is difficult for the inexperienced to learn how to use)! This is what you must to do:
1. If you already have a Username and Password assigned by Prevue Magazine, click here to be taken to our FTP site. Be sure you read through all of these instructions before you go to the FTP site, though. If you do not already have a Username and Password, fill out this form before attempting to FTP files.
2. Upon arrival at the FTP site by internet access, you will be brought to a screen showing a folder named "Incoming" and a "Welcome Message". If you get a "404 Error", just click to "Refresh" your screen. Right click with your mouse over the blank part of the screen and choose "Login As".
3. Fill in your Username and Password assigned to you by Prevue Magazine as requested.
4. Open a separate window for your own hard drive with Windows Explorer or My Computer. Select the file(s) on your own hard drive that you wish to transfer, and drag & drop the file(s) into the FTP window already open on your screen. The files will begin copying to our FTP site, and you will be able to monitor the progress of the file transfer.
5. BE SURE TO SEND US AN EMAIL NOTIFICATION THAT YOU HAVE UPLOADED FILES BY FTP SO WE WILL KNOW TO DOWNLOAD THEM FROM THE SITE! If you don't email us, your files will sit on the server unnoticed.
That's all it takes -- you're good to go!!! Happy FTP'ing!
Java Scripts
Do you find that since you upgraded your Internet Explorer to the latest version, you can no longer view Java scripts (like Counters, Date Stamps and Countdown Timers)? We recently had the same problem when we purchased new computer equipment, and we could not understand why such a new computer would not be working right! The reason this is happening is because the creators of Java (Sun Microsystems) sued Microsoft and made them remove the Java program from Internet Explorer. You can regain your Java capability for free by going to the Sun Microsystems website and download the Java program for free. This link will work for most computer types (Windows, Mac, and several others). Just follow the prompts on your screen to download and install the program on your system (where it already SHOULD have been in the first place!) and you will once again be able to view Java scripts. All is well with the world once again...

Instructions for installing Interarchy:
(Download to your Mac and unpack it with Stuffit Expander and then mount it with Disk Copy. Drag the Interarchy 6.2 folder to the Applications folder of your hard disk. Then eject the disk image. To upgrade a previous installation completely replace the old Interarchy application folder with the new Interarchy 6.2 application folder.)

Instructions for submitting files by FTP to Prevue:
Step 1: If you do not already have an ftp client program (like SmartFTP), click on the SmartFTP icon (if you are a Windows user) to download the program. It offers a free trial; in some instances, it can be free to use, or you can purchase the program if you wish. If you do not qualify for freeware use, then there is a nominal fee to purchase and use the program. If you have a Mac (Apple), you will need an ftp client compatible with the Mac format, like Interarchy (it's not freeware). If you do not want any of the ftp clients we have on our website, you can use a search engine to find an ftp client program compatible with your computer system. Some are free and some are not. Downloads.com is a good place to go; so is tucows.com.
Step 2: Once you have your ftp client installed on your computer, you are ready to connect and transfer files! Create a new profile, using the following settings information:
| Host Name/Address: |
prevuetexas.com |
| Host Type: |
Automatic detect |
| User ID: |
your_user_id |
| *Password: |
your_password |
| Save Pwd: |
(check this box so you don't have to fill in your password each time) |
Step 3: Zip your files into 1 file using Winzip or a similar program.
Step 4: Connect to our ftp site and start transferring files! You will have to follow your software's operation instructions. Generally speaking, most programs will show files in separate panes on your computer. The files in the right pane are usually the files on our website server, while the files in the left pane are usually the files on your own computer. Navigate to the .zip file you wish to send on your computer in the left pane. Once the .zip file is located, click on it once to highlight it, and choose the command in your software that will begin transmitting the file to our server. You will have your own folder on our server that no one else can access for security purposes, so you won't need to worry about your files getting mixed up with someone else's files. Once you have successfully finished transmitting, close the connection and exit.
Step 5: Send us an email advising that you have sent us files via ftp so we can be sure to pull them down for use as soon as possible! If you don't email us, we may not know your files have been uploaded!
If you have any questions or require assistance in this regard, please feel free to contact our Technical Support Department. Good luck, and happy ftp'ing!
